DAEMON Tools Ultra brought Catch!, and with it comes the opportunity to browse the mobile devices' file system. Also, you can browse the Catch! folder of other devices that have DAEMON Tools Ultra installed and Catch! feature enabled.

DAEMON Tools Ultra 5.4.1 permits to open files while browsing with double-click. DAEMON Tools Ultra 5.6 and Catch! 2.2 permit to browse shared PC folders (with DAEMON Tools Ultra or Lite installed); Android devices; and iOS devices from the Android device. Note, that Catch! must be enabled on both devices: on the one your're browsing from, and on the one you are browsing.

Browsing mobile devices

Browsing Android devices includes the Albums, Images, Video, and all the folders that you add to Files tab in Catch! mobile client; while browsing iOS devices permits to look through Albums, Gallery (Photos) and the Catch! folder (Received Files).

Starting with DAEMON Tools Ultra 5.6, you can open images and play videos in the application directly:

While browsing, you can use the upper row or icons to view Info about the proto or video, Remove the file from the device, Download the file, or Rotate the image or the video. Please note, that Rotate does not affect the initial file, and will only affect the way you see it in DAEMON Tools Ultra window.

Android

To browse files on PC you need to open the Catch! app on Android device before you send a browsing request. Accept it once, and then you will see the notification with the name of device that currently browses your content. Or, configure the settings for Background mode to adjust trusted networks and schedule.

It's important to remember that you will be able to browse only the folders that are added to the Files tab in Catch! mobile client. You can modify them as well. If you want to deny access to a certain folder, you need to remove it from Files tab.

Browsing also permits to exchange files: you can download files from Android device to Catch! folder or to a manually picked location, send files to it, delete files or create new folders if you are browsing one of the folders that you added to Files tab in Catch! mobile client.

Android

To browse an Android device, follow these steps:

  1. Open Catch! on your Android device.

  2. Make sure both Android and DAEMON Tools Ultra devices are connected to the same local wireless network.

  3. Find Android device on Device panel in DAEMON Tools Ultra. Click on it, or open its contextual menu and choose Open device in Ultra. If you can't find the desired device on Device panel, you can add it.

  4. Pick Allow to browse the device on Android, and enjoy browsing in DAEMON Tools Ultra window.

There are a few ways to download file or files from Android device:

  • open the contextual menu of a file (or files), and pick the needed option.

  • pick the files you want to download, then press the Download button in the right lower corner, and pick the destinational folder

Now about sending files. Also a couple of ways to do it:

  • drag and drop the files to any chosen directory except Albums

  • open the contextual menu of a directory in Android device, and choose Throw files or Throw files from folder

Note, that if you send files while Gallery tab is open, they will be saved according to file extension: you can set certain extensions or MIME types for folders in Android mobile client. Follow the link to learn more about Saving Folders.

To add a folder, you need to open the contextual menu of the needed directory in Android device, and pick the relevant option.

Browsing shared folders from Android device

Android

  1. Open the menu, go to Remote files and choose the needed device

  2. You will receive the notification on your PC with DAEMON Tools Ultra installed: pick the relevant option (Allow always, Not now or Block this device)

  3. If you have picked Allow always, you will see the list of shared folders on your Android device. Catch! folder is available to browse by default. To manage the shared folders, open Preferences

  4. Now you can download files from PC to Android device, or delete them. These action require confirmation Catch files from this device that you can customize in Preferences

iOS devices

Browsing shared folders of iOS device from DAEMON Tools Ultra

iOS

To browse files on PC you need to keep the Catch! app opened on iOS device. Follow these steps to browse the iOS device:

  1. Open Catch! on your iOS device. and DAEMON Tools Ultra on PC.

  2. Make sure both iOS and DAEMON Tools Ultra devices are connected to the same local wireless network.

  3. Find iOS device on Device panel in DAEMON Tools Ultra. Click on it, or open its contextual menu and choose Open device in Ultra. If you can't find the desired device on Device panel, you can add it.

  4. Pick Allow to browse the device on iOS device, and enjoy browsing in DAEMON Tools Ultra window.

Browsing also permits to save the chosen files to Catch! folder, delete files and folders, or save files to a folder chosen manually. To do that, right-click the file, and pick the relevant option from the contextual menu.

Browsing shared folders from iOS device (beta)

iOS

Since Catch! 3, you can browse the shared folders from your iOS with Catch! (which can be shared folders on Android device with Catch! installed, an iOS device with Catch!, or PC folders with DAEMON Tools Ultra or Lite installed). You also can preview images, download files, save a file to the remote device, create a folder. To browse, you need to perform several steps:

  1. Open Catch! on your iOS device, and the Catch! client on the device you want to browse (whether it's a DAEMON Tools app, or Catch!).

  2. Make sure both evices are connected to the same local wireless network.

  3. Proceed to Devices tab in Catch! and choose the needed device. If you can't find the desired device on Device panel, you can add it manually: click the Add icon on the top right corner and type the IP-address of the device.

  4. You will receive the notification on the device you want to browse: pick the relevant option (Allow always, Not now or Block this device)

  5. Now you can browse the shared folders of the chosen device, and also preview images, download files, save files to the remote device, create folders.

iOS

Browsing Catch! folder on another PC

There's also a possibility to browse folders in other devices that have DAEMON Tools Ultra installed and Catch! enabled. Just complete a few steps:

  1. Enable Catch! on both devices and make sure they're connected to the same wireless network

  2. Find the needed device on Device panel, double-click on it, or pick Open device in Ultra. If you can't find the desired device on Device panel, you can add it

  3. Choose to Allow the device to browse your shared folders on the PC you want to browse, and enjoy!

Send files while browsing with drag-and-drop, or by opening a contextual menu of a certain file or Catch! folder.

In case you have picked Allow always option, you will no longer need to accept the request. If a blocked device will attempt to browse your files you will not get any notifications, and the blocked device will not be able to browse. You need to remove the device from blocklist first.

Catch! folder is available to browse by default. To manage your shared folders, open Preferences.

If your PC has several network adapters, DAEMON Tools Ultra permits to choose the needed IP address in settings.
